Old Town Crit

The old town crit - an evening criterium Saturday, August 29th through the streets of old town Traverse City! Imagine the thrill of a criterium race roaring down historic streets in the heart of Traverse City… like a traditional European race, the course passes over a short section of cobblestone!

Sunday, August 29th

Road Race

Following the Criterium the Cherry-Roubaix Road Race will be held Sunday, August 30th on the same gear-shifting, lung-splitting, quad-burning 12-mile course used for Michigan State Road Race in the late 1980s. The start-finish line is high atop Sugar Loaf Resort, ensuring spectators a spectacular view of the race.

Cri•ter•i•um: A criterium, or crit, is a type of bike race held on a short course (usually less than 5 km), often run on closed-off city centre streets.

There will be cash awards, food, prizes, and fun!

A. The name Cherry-Roubaix pays homage to a classic single-day professional bicycle road race that takes place in northern France. The Paris-Roubaix is one of the oldest cycling races in the world and is considered a European classic. The Paris-Roubaix is famous for rough terrain and cobblestone roads, similarly the Cherry-Roubaix will include a short section of brick cobblestones on 6th street in Old Town Traverse City.
